Happy Fourth of July!
We had a great weekend. We decided to brave downtown for Red, White and Boom which I have only ever watched from a distance. Once from a parking garage on OSU campus and once from our garage roof. We usually go to a suburban fireworks show instead of trying to navigate the craziness. Well, this year we decided to give it a try. We had a great evening. My Mom, Jimmy, Brian and I headed down around 5:30 and met up with Traci and the Zerby's along with a bunch of people at work to hang out in COSI's employee viewing area. It was cool to walk down and see the parade. We then went and ate at Spag. Warehouse before heading over. The lawn was fenced in so Jimmy and Ethan could run and we didn't have to worry about cars. The fireworks were great. Lots of fun. They last for a good amount of time and I think Jimmy actually got bored for a little bit. I kept having to remind him that there were fireworks over head. We woke up the next morning to him chattering over the monitor... "Fireworks. Look! Over there!" hmmm.... Wondered who said that...
Now I will say that now that we have done Red, White and Boom I don't think I will rush to do it again. I live about 2.5 miles away from COSI and I spent 1.5 hours trying to get home... Jimmy of course stayed awake for probably 1 hour and 15 minutes of that until I finally got on the freeway. As soon as we were actually moving he said, "Be careful Mommy. Be careful Daddy." And passed out. It was just about midnight and I would have done the same thing had I not been driving! So maybe next year we'll switch back to one of the suburban shows...
We got to spend the weekend with my Mom and I will post those pictures and pics from Red, White and Boom soon. To tide you over here's more vacation pictures.
Hanging at the Naples Zoo. I want one of these trees.
When you don't take a nap when you're supposed to, you end up missing cool things. Like boat rides.
Running and yelling on the beach.
Trying to get a picture with the boy who won't sit still...
Learning how to play on the computer with Ethan. Thanks Zerbys for a wonderful evening!
Taking a tour of the monkey and ape islands at the Naples Zoo.
Dinner with Jerry.
